Sustainable Digitalization Project
Sustainable digitalization is developed around the circular economy model, working transversally in 3 major blocks: green transition, digital transformation, and social action.
This is a solidarity initiative of the CEOE Foundation and the Extended Producer Responsibility Collective Systems (Ecotic, Ambilab, Ecoasimelec, Ecofimática, Ecolum, Ecolec and ERP España) for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic devices, and it has also enlisted the help of the SEUR Foundation and the eco-innovation studio Inèdit.
The main goal is to promote the circular economy through the reuse of electrical and electronic devices, thereby enabling universal access to technology and eliminating the digital divide that threatens many families.
Coordinating the selective collection of computers and tablets through the business fabric throughout Spain, for their subsequent refurbishment, has been an essential part of this initiative. It has allowed us to reduce waste and protect the environment, to act on the digital divide that affects people at risk of exclusion and to stress the rational use of technology.
From the time this scheme was launched in 2021 until January 2024 , its implementation has led to emissions savings of the equivalent of 329,000 kilograms of CO2 and the collection of approximately 11,674 devices, of which more than 45% have been refurbished. Solidarity donations from more than 120 companies and self-employed individuals from all over Spain have made this initiative a success and it is now in its second edition, delivering the reconditioned devices to 80 social entities and reaching more than 25,000 direct and indirect beneficiaries
Sustainable Digitization is an alliance for the people. We make a social impact possible and have a greener economy.
