Background
Since its inception, the Foundation has aimed to defend progress in education, employability, and the promotion of business values in Spanish society. Thus, it helped in the development of several initiatives of a cultural and sporting nature, such as the CEOE Award for the Arts and the CEOE Award for Science. In addition to the Awards, until 2016, the CEOE Foundation managed and coordinated the Fullbright Scholarships sponsored by large Spanish and American multinationals.
Until 2016, the Spain Competes Plan, implemented in conjunction with the Higher Sports Council and the Spanish Association of Athletes, was run under the Foundation’s supervision.
Since its relaunch in 2019, the CEOE Foundation redesigned its strategy with the aim of becoming the cornerstone of corporate social responsibility in Spain.
Thus, it began a transformation into a “Foundation of Foundations” with the main purpose of highlighting the important contribution of the business world to society, with special emphasis on the challenges posed by the Sustainable Development Goals. It also aims to be an ally for companies at a time of profound transformation brought about by digitalization, with the objective of helping them to improve their competitiveness. It thus reinforces the commitment to inclusive employability.
As a result of this new configuration, in 2020, following the start of the pandemic, the Foundation was able to coordinate important actions with Spanish companies, such as the We Combine Health+Economy Plan or the Companies that Help program, which have translated in the deployment of a real contribution to the health crisis and the economic and social recovery.
These projects continue to gain support and are complemented by many others that prove that companies are an essential part of economic and social progress.
