The CEOE Foundation and Foment del Treball signed to join the Salud + Economía’ Plan (in English, We Combine Health+Economy Plan)

The president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, the president of Fundación CEOE, Fátima Báñez, and the president of Foment del Treball Nacional, Josep Sánchez Llibre, signed an agreement on Thursday to create a framework of collaboration to streamline projects between the parties. The President of Cepyme, Gerardo Cuerva, was also present at the event.

Specifically, Foment del Treball, with support from the CEOE Foundation, will broaden and reinforce the efforts of the health authorities by offering the tools and means available to companies.

Mass vaccination to achieve 70% immunity in the population is currently the main goal to fight the pandemic and restore social and economic normality.

To this end, the CEOE Foundation has signed a collaboration agreement with the Social Security and mutual insurance companies within the framework of the ‘Sumamos Plan’ so that the latter can administer vaccines and thus speed up the vaccination process.

In particular, in Catalonia there are 186 mutual insurance centres with 2,000 health workers, whose collaboration could increase the vaccination capacity in the community by up to 30%.

In this regard, Foment del Treball is actively and directly committed to achieving this target in Catalonia. As a result, Josep Sánchez Llibre stressed that “Companies are offering their full collaboration in this campaign of mass immunisation of the population, with the aim of speeding up the vaccination of workers to comply with all the protocols of the health authorities. Vaccinating at the workplace will eliminate the need for workers and health workers to travel and, therefore, prevent crowds and mass gatherings of people at the vaccination centres”.

Meanwhile, the president of CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, stressed that “it is essential for the public and private sectors to continue to join forces in order to overcome the pandemic as soon as possible and to ensure that, as a result of this collaboration, the economic recovery can begin sooner”. 

‘The Plan Sumamos. Salud + Economía’ (in English, We Combine Health+Economy Plan)

The CEOE’s Foundation ‘Sumamos Plan’ includes a set of five initiatives through which companies have collaborated in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, from screening in workplaces (donating resources, material and spaces), and tracking (through the COVID Radar application), to communication initiatives, attention to vulnerable groups and vaccinations.

By joining the Sumamos Plan, Foment del Treball aims to achieve the much-needed balance between health and the economy, a binomial for which the essential foundations of public-private collaboration between employers and the regional government have been laid today.
