Audience with the Spanish Committee of the United World Schools foundation’s board of trustees, scholarships sponsors and students

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, accompanied by their daughters, Her Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia, welcomed the Board of Trustees of the Spanish Committee of the United World Schools Foundation, together with the scholarship sponsors and the students who are returning after their two-year experience.

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain and HRH the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía received the Board of Trustees of the Spanish Committee of World Schools Foundation, chaired by Alberto Aza Arias, at Zarzuela Palace, together with the sponsors of the scholarships: the CEOE Foundation, BBVA, the Rafael del Pino Foundation, the Mutua Madrileña Foundation, the La Caixa Foundation and the ONCE Foundation. In addition, the 14 students of the 2021/2023 biennium who have just returned from the United World Colleges and the 22 students of the 2023/2025 biennium who will begin their studies at a United World College also attended the event.

UWC Spain

The Foundation of the United World Colleges’ Spanish Committee(UWC Spain) was founded on November 11, 1996, under the High Patronage of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain and the Presidency of H.R.H. Carlos de Borbón, Infante of Spain. It was registered on December 11th of the same year with the Protectorate of Educational Foundations attached to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport under number 316.

The Foundation is responsible for raising the necessary funds so that every year a greater number of Spanish pupils may attend the United World Schools. At the same time, it is responsible for selecting applicants according to the guidelines set by the International Office.

In addition, its main mission is to promote the ideals of international understanding in Spain, engaging society in general and not just the students and their families, which it does through its summer and winter short programmes.
